The Victoria Walmart honored teachers at O'Connor Elementary School at its Teacher Rewards program Wednesday. After they had dug through their goodie bags of staplers, folders, push pins and more, the teachers gasped when they learned 10 of them would receive $100 gift cards to Walmart to help purchase classroom supplies. Principal Jill Lau nominated the 10 teachers of the year, all of whom received an extra bag of supplies.
The teachers were, back row, left to right, Tammy Bertling and Melissa Romanowski; middle row, Cheryl Beck, Katie McClendon, Cindy Diggs and Teresa Partain; front row, Christina Charlton, with First Convenience Bank, Christie Carroll, Rosa Vaca, Margarita Moreland and Angie Potts, community coordinator of events at Walmart. Walmart and Sam's Club locations nationwide will invest $4.5 million in the Teachers Rewards program this year.
